The Definitively Daily for Thursday June 5th
Posted on 06/05/2008

Well Hello Jukies and good morrow to you.
In today's news blast we want to take the time to commemorate some of our heros.
To start with, check out the mix of three totally prolific verses by our hero, the late Camu Tao, on El-p's Okayplayer blog as compiled by Aesop Rock. The music speaks for itself and will hopefully covey some of the tremendous talent that this person possesed. It has been a huge loss for the entire Jux family and the hip hop community as a whole. We encourage you to continue to keep him in your thoughts and coming through your speakers.
We also want to make a special note of gratitude to the band of rugged weary heros that is Chin Chin as they conquer the west coast, city by city and town by tow. They've been making a small buzz with their recently available DJ Eli Toot D'Amore remix (click on in it, cause its free).
Another group of heroic folk worthy of your admiration today, Monks. Yeah, you read it, Monks. Almost a month after a major cyclone hit Burma, millions of people are still without aid. The military Junta in power has given a myriad of excuses for turning away international help, insisting that any US aid (aka food, clean water, medical supplies, etc) would come with 'strings attached', and thats not even the worst of it. Today the US military led operation to provide aid was officially aborted, leaving the millions of homeless and displaced citizens in a pretty bad way. Buhddist monks in Burma have played a major roll in reaching heavily damaged areas that are as yet untouched by the government. Lets just put it this way, next time you're in an apocalypse, you'll be lucky if you see one of these guys heading your way:

I had only recently purchased a copy of Smashy Trashy, and found out a few days later that Tao had passed. An amazing lyricist, and skilled producer, I bow my head to pay my respects to an incredible talent. Peace.
