Also in the news, Del Tha Funkee was back on the west coast this weekend and will be popping up in Texas for three dates later this week... check it out.

Autumnal weather brings news of jukie tours throughout America and the world!!

Pitchfork has it that The Mighty Underdogs will head to Australia soon and then back to the good ole US of A for a coheadlining tour with Blackalicious, more to come on that soon.

Rob Sonic will be heading back east next week after finishing off the west coast Aesop dates (tickets here) to play a show at Southpaw, check the flyer!!

And Del tha Funkee will be kicking off his september dates starting tomorrow, check that out!!

Next week brings news of yet another jukie tour ...and plenty more.

Dear Jukies,

Please direct your attention to the West Coast Performer Magazine for a Del interview, and then direct your East coast attention to the upcoming People Under the Stairs, Junk Science, Iller than Theirs show tonight as well as the Activator show coming up tomorrow, both at Southpaw, and both worth the trip.

New releases this week - El-P, Del, and more!

We've promised to bring you new content each week and we continue that promise by offering up some bomb ass releases this week. Here's a recap:

For starters, Tuesday June 10th saw the release of Del The Funky Homosapien's single for "True Endeavors", a bonus track off of the Eleventh Hour album. . The single features a remix by fellow Jukie Aesop Rock. To catch a recent interview between Del and Aesop check out this link. Tuesday also saw the release of the Hangar 18 video for 'Really Wide' off of their most recent release, Sweep the Leg. The video features Hangar's Wind and Alaska running around the streets of lower east side Manhattan at night, chasing each other through dream sequences and a grainy old school detective story. Download it Here!

Today will see the triumphant and long awaited release of El-P's I'll Sleep When You're Dead Instrumentals. Hear, in a new way, the complex and multilayered production by a man referred to as ‘an urban-futurist producer’ by Entertainment Weekly or just download your favorite song and lay down your own verses. Also on Friday, the World Wide Web debut of The Mighty Underdogs video for 'Gunfight', featuring MF Doom with graphics by Ben Stokes. The Mighty Underdogs, consisting of Gift of Gab (Blackalicious) and Lateef tha Truthspeaker (Latyrx), made their Def Jux debut with the release of The Prelude EP last Thursday. This Friday they are bringing you the Wild Wild West in the video for Gunfight which is staged like an old western using dope-ass new 2D collage graphics.

Lastly, we have a remix from The Boys and Girls Club of 'Hey', the first single from your boys Junk Science. In other Junk news, Junk Science has just been added to this summer's Warped Tour so take a peep at the tour section

Hole-y crap its HOT.

This heat wave is the first of its kind this summer and boy is it a doozie. We here in the Definitive Jux offices are laying low and staying as cool as is humanly possible. But we wanted to be sure to help our fellowing Suffering Americans with some soothing new content and some cool reading material to keep your minds active, even if you've sweated your bodies stuck to a chair.

For starters we are recommending something refreshing, a citrusy blend of something cool and replenishing. Well you may or may not know that our resident wordsmith Mr. Aesop Rock has been writing and interviewing for the awesome online zine, The Citrus Report. We recommend reading his interview with porn revolutionary Sasha Grey. But in this issue Aesop chills out with fellow jukie Del the Funky Homosapien and talks food, Heiro, Ice Cube and much more. Here's a taste:

moved to the Bay to say whattup. I recall talking about how I was
thinking of copping a used whip. You told me you didn’t need one cuz
you had 14 razor scooters. Why do you have 14 razor scooters?}

^{Del: Actually, since then, I bought a
car, primarily for my girl so she can handle her business. But my
reason behind the scooters is: 1, they’re fun; 2, they’re inexpensive;
3, they don’t cost anything but energy to operate. I look at gas prices
now and I think to myself, “Damn, see, I had the right idea.” But now
my girl does whatever retrieval that I need, or she’ll take me. Like I
said, I never leave the house unless I have to and I’m totally absorbed
in making better music. I feel it’s of the utmost importance because
these are still developing years for me. I have to accelerate that
process.}

In more Del/Aesop related news, today's new releases include the Del's True Endeavors single with the Aesop remix, and the Hangar 18 video for Really Wide. These, in conjunction with a cold beverage should tide you all over till friday, or so we're hoping.
